How can someone steal my electricity?

The recent economic downturn has forced a lot of American citizens to find new alternatives to their usual routines of living. Less money has equaled less buying power for most. For those who had little money to begin with they to have had to go outside the box to meet their needs. Learning how to steal electricity has proven to be easy and lucrative for many.

You might ask, “How can someone steal my electricity?” It does not take much knowledge to steal electricity, only a willingness to do so. Electric thievery has become more prevalent and thus more people must be willing to partake in such actions. Taking the meter cap off and then replacing after a very minor adjustment that allows the electricity to flow into the home takes less than a minute.

There was a time I dared anyone to steal my electricity. Now I don’t want to give anyone any ideas. It is just to easy to do. Simply trade one meter to another and before the new read is due change it back. This has happened to me and raised my bill an extra 150 dollars. I still can’t believe people steal electricity, but they do.

Why So Many Poor?

A child once asked their parents why there are so many poor people? Depending on their personal views, the parents offered a variety of answers ranging from people being to lazy to work to just a simple “I do not know why.” The question is still occasionally asked by children. Now, would it not be more appropriate for adults to ask that same question?

Yes, it would only be fitting that more adults ask the question, “Why are there so many poor people?” It is an adult population that is plagued with this phenomena. It is an adult population that has passed its effects to another generation of adults by having children under these conditions. It is an adult population that must pay the financial price of helping to maintain a society of financially derelict persons. An adult population must shoulder the burden of increased societal costs through private, social and government programs that only offer temporary solutions instead of permanent resolutions. Food, clothing, housing, medical and psychiatric care, physical and chemical abuse, increased crime rates, and death all weigh society down keeping it from attaining the true heights it is capable of reaching.

So, the question is, “Why have the adults not solved this problem of an ever growing population of poor people?” One answer is,”Why me? Let our government do something…that is why I pay taxes.” Or, “These people need to take matters into their own hands and not depend on others to do it for them.” Maybe, “There is no solution to the problem. It is just a simple fact of life that poor people will exist in every society.” Let us examine these statements.

“Why me?” “Why not you or me? Somebody has to do something. As President Obama has put forth so many times, “We can no longer do nothing.” Does each individual effort have to be so much of an effort? No, it does not.

American Dream just beyond reach

It is a shame that for some, the American dream is just beyond their reach and yet it is always within their sight. No matter what the obstacle, no matter what the odds and no matter what others may say or do…the still come in search of that elusive American Dream. For them there is no greater desire. This I know.

We talk and live the American Dream. Others search for the American Dream. But, right under our noses, the very fabric of this dream is being changed. Some would argue that it would simply be an enhancement. In some ways it might be like the “guess who’s moving into the neighborhood” syndrome all over again. Geraldo labels deadbeats

In days gone by, my belief in the reporting of Geraldo Rivera was strong and supportive. I do not always agree with his slant at the news events covered. Overall, he has been reliable. Today I have to say that I strongly disagree with his assessment of the health care bill being put forth by the current administration. Per Geraldo, it is a good thing to provide health care insurance access to all as long as we require at least minimum coverage. He akins it to liability insurance of the auto insurance industry which keeps from having those “deadbeats” that don’t have liability insurance from making costs rise for those who are insured. This on his show on Fox with Ann Coulter which aired this evening.

I have always felt that the liability insurance requirement is a scam that only hurts the lower class, who nobody wants to help. These people are not deadbeats. They are simply unable to pay for one more required expense. Feelings like this underline the majority line of thought and undermine our entire society. It is this line of thought that will always restrict any improvements in our society of any great measure. This I know.
