To Air is Human
Psychiatrists, counselors and religious leaders all agree that we must “air” out our differences if we are to survive as a society. Sometimes we take the advice further than once imagined in order to reach new heights of imagination and clarity of our intent. One person recently engaged new options and paid the price for doing so.
Such seems to be what recently happened in a Florida public school. No one knows the exact reason a young male student was disgruntled with his school and his student peers. Perhaps grades were involved or maybe the trouble stemmed from poor social skills with an inability to relate to authoritative figures. At this point in time we can only surmise that the situation weighed heavily upon the student’s shoulders.
Whatever the reason for his actions, this four foot and eleven inch tall male student from Florida, decided he would air his differences in public. Needless to say, what a stink he created. His decision was to deliberately “pass gas” with the intent to disrupt his class. According to local police, while employing this flatulent tactic, he also decided to shut down the school’s entire computer system.
Stuart’s Spectrum Jr/Sr High School was forced to call in the local police force. The Martin County Sheriffs Office responded and “busted” the young culprit charging him for disruption of a school function. Other charges may be added at a later date.
The disruption occurred last November 4, 2008. Since then the student charged has enjoyed another birthday. According to public records he is now 13 years of age.
Having the power of controllable flatulence in the hands of one so young, a minor, can only lead to precarious situations. Should he recieve rehabilitation and training to learn how to use this power for the greater good? Or, should he be allowed to develop freely, waiting to see what blows in the wind? Either way, to “air” is human…to forgive divine.
